We are a retailer of t-shirts and sports apparel featuring crass motivation and peculiar inspiration for those athletes who like to use humor to fuel their hard work, determination, and passion. We started Slightly Inappropriate Mantras because we love running and we love inspiration through humor. When we started racing we designed fun, custom shirts that would provide inspiration to us and our fellow runners during our races. We were pleasantly surprised by all the positive feedback, and after being asked at every race where we’d gotten our shirts we decided to share our designs with other runners. Most of our designs are inspired by what we’ve seen and heard during races and training runs. We aren’t elite athletes, so we have a bit of time to check out our fellow runners’ gear. Our favorite shirts and spectator signs have always been the ones that make us laugh and are just a bit, just slightly, inappropriate.
Our goal is to be a company that contributes to the greater good through environmental initiatives and giving back to the community. We believe laughter, passion, and responsibility are all important qualities in successful athletes. We run our company the same way we live our lives. With respect for the environment, respect for our follow athletes, and respect for own bodies. All the while with a smile on our face and laughter in our heart.
We are based in Austin, Texas which is one of the coolest cities in the U.S. We don’t currently have a store front, but you can purchase our products online and at race expos. Check out our blog page to see if we’re coming to an expo near you soon!

How much do you charge for shipping?
We charge actual shipping costs to you. Amounts are calculated and shown in your shopping cart prior to checkout. Any purchase over $100 will be shipped to you free of charge, just use coupon code FreeShip100
Do you have overnight/rush shipping?

We find that the Men’s ALO shirts run a little on the larger side and the Women’s American Apparel t-shirts tend to run small.
What is your return policy?
We will gladly accept any unworn, unwashed apparel for return or exchange (less shipping costs) within 30 days of purchase. We inspect every item before shipping, but if you receive a defective item we will replace it or refund your money at no additional shipping cost to you. Please email us for information on returns and exchanges.
I have a great idea for a shirt; do you accept suggestions for designs? What’s in it for me?
We welcome suggestions, ideas, and feedback. Saw a funny sign at a race that you think would make a great shirt? email us and if we use your design you could earn $500 (and bragging rights!) Want to see a design in another color or fabric? Let us know.
